2021 Campaign: Moving Toward Hope

We have all made some changes over the last year or so. Our 2020 Caring for Women Campaign looked and felt a bit different, but with your help we were able to raise over $58,000 to further the work of our partners to stop exploitation.

While abnormal times carry on, progress continues with increasing vaccinations and persistent safety measures. As we embark on our 2021 Campaign, this development fills us with hope and optimism.

While this year’s campaign will still be done virtually rather than in-person, we are excited to bring back our Celebration Luncheon (more on that below)! And most of all, we continue to be thankful for our family of donors and advocates like you.

Campaign Process

This year, our campaign runs from June 7 to June 30. The health and safety of our campaigners and our donors remains a top priority in 2021. Because of this, we are mailing out letters rather than visiting with you in person and have eliminated our paper brochures. Look for our update letter during the week of June 1, 2021. Our steering committee members will also follow up with you via text, phone or email over the next month.

What Will our 2021 Campaign Fund in Kandiyohi County?

Even though our campaign might look different this year, we know that funding for the prevention of sexual exploitation is more critical than ever. This campaign will help us:

  • Fuel direct victim assistance through our partner organization, Safe Avenues

  • Provide flexibility to our partner organizations to design programs that will best serve our community’s needs amid the shadow pandemic (an increase in domestic and sexual violence)

  • Extend new grant funding to support additional Trauma Informed Care training, further expanding the reach to additional professionals in Kandiyohi County that work with children, youth and families (TIC Phase 1)

  • Offer a second grant to previous Trauma Informed Care grantees that work with children, youth, and families to further support their work in building trauma informed care capacity (TIC Phase 2)

  • Broaden awareness of the intersectionality issues impacting sexual exploitation in our county to help prevent and stop the cycle

  • Distribute educational materials through print and social media

Matching Funds

We are so excited to announce that an anonymous donor has offered to match up to $10,000 to help us kick off our 2021 Caring for Women Campaign. Please consider making a gift to the WAWF to help us earn this match and reach our goal of $50,000.

You have helped us stand up and say, “Not Here, Not Our Kids.” Please continue to stand with us as we expand our efforts to provide help to those who need it most at this time. Together, we can all make a difference in the lives of women and girls facing sexual exploitation and families impacted by trauma.
