Volunteers and donors (like you!) are the heart of our work here at the Willmar Area Women's Fund.
With each edition of our e-newsletter, we're shining a spotlight on each of our Steering Committee members to recognize the many ways they make the community a thriving, vibrant place to call home.
This month, let's learn more about Kris Tone.
About Kris Tone
Kris is retired after working 36+ years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor/Manager for the State of Minnesota. She and her husband, Terry, are the parents of three adult children. All three children, their spouses and five grandchildren live in the Twin Cities area.
Kris finds enjoyment spending time with family and friends, and loves watching her grandchildren grow and show their unique personalities. She also enjoys lake activities, walking/hiking, golfing, cooking, traveling and volunteering in her community.
Kris' Involvement with the Women's Fund
She became involved with the Women's Fund in 2014 after hearing about their focus on improving the lives of women and girls in Kandiyohi County at the annual Willmar Area Community Foundation Awards in Philanthropy dinner.
Kris is in her third term serving on the Steering Committee. She previously served as the secretary and she currently chairs the Programs/Grants Task Team.
What Keeps Kris Involved with the Fund
Kris strongly believes in the work the Fund does and is proud of the partnerships that have been formed to provide education and services to women and girls facing life challenges in Kandiyohi County.
The support from the community has been inspiring to her and the donations received allow this important work to continue. Kris believes that we need to each do our part to make our community a great place to live.
We are so fortunate to have Kris as part of the Women's Fund!
