About Karina
Karina DeJong is a Willmar native, moving back to the area in 2017. She obtained her BA in Global Business Leadership with double minors in Art and Gender Studies from the College of Saint Benedict and St. John’s University in St. Joseph, MN. Karina worked at the Willmar Area Community Foundation as a Donor Services and Communications Coordinator for four and a half years and now is the Marketing Coordinator at Conway, Deuth & Schmiesing. She is also the owner and founder of Rosebud’s Sweets and Treats, a cottage home bakery, where she offers specialty cupcakes and cakes!
Karina lives right outside of the Willmar area in Priam – right along the way to Raymond! She is a dog mom to her cavapoo, Bennie, and her golden retriever, Rosie. She spends a lot of time going to visit her two brothers, her sister, and her pride and joy – her niece and nephew! Karina has always appreciated the small town and sense of community in the Willmar area. She enjoys gathering with family and friends and traveling to new destinations around the county. Karina is a coffee connoisseur so you may find her always trying a new coffee shop or purchasing homemade pottery at any new destination along the way!
Involvement with the Willmar Area Women’s Fund
Karina joined the Willmar Area Women’s Fund (WAWF) in June of 2023 and is a part of the Messaging/Marketing Task team. During her time at the Foundation, Karina help managed the Women’s Fund. The significant impact the Women’s Fund made within the community resonated with her and her passion only deepened for the mission of WAWF during her four years with the group. She was eager to join the steering committee and is passionate about continuing efforts to support and empower women and children in the community. As a part of the Messaging/Marketing Task team, Karina has helped the Women’s Fund communicate the stories of impact and diversify ways to raise awareness about the mission and collective impact of the Women’s Fund including the implementation of a printed newsletter and video marketing.
Other Organizations Karina Supports
In addition to her involvement with the Women’s Fund, Karina recently joined L.E.A.D of Kandiyohi County design team in June of 2024. L.E.A.D is an advanced leadership training program offered to individuals in the Willmar Lakes Area to help develop their professional and personal skills. As being a part of the design team, they are the principal group responsible for the oversight, management, and implementation of the leadership program. Karina also enjoys being a part of the ‘glam squad’ for the Willmar Area Community Foundation in support of preparing for their Awards in Philanthropy celebration!
Why Karina is committed to WAWF
Karina believes in empowering individuals who feel powerless. She believes that the Women’s Fund can provide opportunities and support systems to those in need and that circumstances should not hold anyone back from their dreams or goals. Karina is proud to be a part of an organization that has dedicated volunteers who use big picture thinking and an intersectional approach as they deeply reflect on all the opportunities and challenges that are presented and uplifted from within the community.
WAWF is proud to have Karina on the Willmar Area Women’s Fund and appreciates her expertise, passion, and dedication that she will bring to our organization and the community at large!
